Welcome to hauntedreal.com, where we discuss many haunted places in and outside India. Today, we will discuss a location often described as one of the most haunted places in India — GP Block, located in Meerut — and try to understand the local stories and experiences associated with this place.
GP Block, often described among the top five haunted places of India, is located in Meerut in a commercial-residential part of Shastri Nagar. It is well connected by roadways from the main city of Meerut, and there are local markets in the nearby area that are easily approachable by walking. During the daytime, this area looks normal like any other city, but at night this area becomes very different, especially in the late hours when there is low traffic.
Due to local rumors and urban legends, the place got a haunted reputation. In this context, the role of social media and several haunted YouTube channels was prominent. Actually, GP Block is not a specific building. It is a part of a colony that has normal houses, small residential buildings, parks, empty spots, local roads, and street lights. Over the years, several people have confirmed that they have seen something mysterious in this place. However, there is no authenticity or proven documentary evidence about these tales.
The Woman in Red Saree
There is a local tale about a red saree woman figure encountered in this area. The figure was mostly seen at midnight. The woman was sometimes seen standing under a streetlight and sometimes in an empty plot area. She wears a bright red saree and is sometimes described as having open hair.
This type of local tale got wide publicity, and the place became regarded as among the top haunted places in India. Some encounters say that she was standing without moving at all, while others say that the figure started moving slowly. That woman was repeatedly mentioned in different YouTube videos and on social media. However, she disappears suddenly when someone tries to go close to her. In another encounter, she was seen walking across the road.
It is generally a rumor and does not have documentary evidence. Some people who were in vehicles confirmed that they felt creepy and a sense of heaviness while crossing this area.

Four Ghosts Sitting with a Candle
Another local tale associated with GP Block is the famous ghost encounter of four ghosts sitting with a candle. These four figures were sitting together with a small candle or dim light placed in the center. The figures appeared completely still and silent.
Stories describe them as wearing white clothes. They were sitting in a circle without reacting even if someone looked at them from a distance. If someone tried to go closer to them, they suddenly disappeared. This probably happened due to illusion, and the story might not have authenticity. The most important thing is that fear spreads quickly when one story is repeated many times.

Other Ghost Encounters
Apart from these stories, there are some other tales popularly associated with this place. Dogs suddenly bark while looking into an empty space. As dogs have stronger senses than humans, some believe there might be something unnatural that they see, which makes them bark. It is also believed that dogs can see ghosts, so they bark when negative energy comes across them.
Another story says that a shadow is seen moving between the trees.

The Abandoned House
In some versions of the GP Block urban legend (Shastri Nagar, Meerut), people talk about a particular house that looked abandoned or locked for a long time. However, it is important to understand that this story is based on local rumors, not verified evidence.
Some individuals claimed they saw lights turning on and off inside the house late at night. The house was said to appear empty during the day. At night, a dim light was allegedly visible from a window. There were also rumors that curtains moved even when there was no visible wind. People watching from the street thought someone was inside. When approached, everything looked still and normal.
The house was described as having gates closed most of the time, windows shut, and very little visible activity. This gave the impression that it was abandoned.
However, the stories described above are not proven and are based on local tales and experiences. We do not have authentic documents to prove these events. Our intention is not to give a bad reputation to this area. Our aim is to highlight local stories and tales.Goodbye and take care. Very soon we will return with another story.
